July 4th is one of our favorite holidays. Food, family, and fun are how we celebrate. Here are four of our July 4th finger foods that are always a hit with kids and adults alike. They are easy, don’t take a lot of time, and taste amazing.
Table of Contents
Red & Blue Watermelon
What you will need:
Watermelon (large)
Blueberries (1 pkg)
Cookie Cutter (Star shaped)
Toothpicks
Start by cutting the water in half. Then slice the halves into about 6 slices so that each slice is round with a ‘ring’ around it. Use a cookie cutter to cut the inside of the slices into star shapes. (Amount you get will depend on the size cutter used). Place the stars on a platter. Put a blueberry in the center and place a toothpick through it to hold into place. Set on the table and serve.
Fruit Kabobs
What you will need:
Blueberries
Mini-Marshmallows
Strawberries/Raspberries (your choice)
Skewers
You can do these a few different ways. We did a blueberry, a marshmallow, and a strawberry and repeated it 3x on a few of them. We then did 2 blueberries, 2 marshmallows, 2 raspberries, and 2 strawberries on a few. Then we did 3 blueberries, 3 marshmallows, 3 strawberries/3 blueberries, 3 marshmallows, 3 raspberries on a few.
Strawberry Cheesecake Bites: Red, White, & Blue Themed
What you will need:
Strawberries (about 10-15)
Blueberries (about 30-40)
4 oz package of Cream Cheese (left soften)
¼ cup of Confectioner’s Sugar
¼ tsp of Almond Extract
Place the strawberries in a bowl and set to the side. Mix the cream cheese (make sure it has softened), confectioner’s sugar, and almond extract together in a small mixing bowl until they are combined and smooth. Set it in the fridge and let chill for roughly 10-15 minutes. Take the strawberries and rinse them off really well. Pat them dry with a paper towel and slice them (in half) lengthwise. Place them on a plate or platter with the cut sides up. Spoon the cream cheese mixture on top of the strawberries (you can use a piping bag if you choose) and then place 1-2 blueberries on top and serve.
Red, White, & Blue Deviled Eggs
What you will need:
Eggs
Americolor food coloring
**Please note–I am not doing the recipe for deviled eggs. This is only for getting the boiled eggs red and blue in color**
Boil your eggs like normal. After you peel them and cut them in half (lengthwise), scoop the yoke out and put it in a bowl to the side. Mix hot water (1 cup) with red food coloring ( 1 tsp). Add distilled white vinegar (1 tbsp) and stir together. Place the egg halves into the bowl for 1-2 minutes. Repeat the process with blue food coloring. Place the egg halves on a platter and fill with egg yolk mixture of your choice; serve.
I look forward to July 4th each year because I get to see family and friends. Serving these finger foods just adds to my excitement. Eating them, well eating them is just a much needed bonus!
